A Mayan Mystery
or
The secrets of Palenque
Content
For centuries the Mayan city of Palanque lay hidden in dense jungle. Few people knew of its whereabouts and no one knew of what was concealed deep within the Temple of the Inscriptions.
in 1952, after three years of excavating, Mexican archeologist Alberto Ruz finally revealed what lay hidden at the heart of the Temple. His discovery of the burial chamber of king Pakal is every bit as exciting and important as Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun.
Format
The session opens with a review of Mayan culture before using archive images and first person storytelling to recreate Alberto's search and discovery of the tomb of King Pakal.
